The Printing Process for ID cards Explained

Sometimes those in charge of ordering ID cards for a business believe that this is a task which must be outsourced to a printing company. The truth is that there are a number of excellent ID card printers on the market that can produce full color ID badges, discount cards or other card products. Most of the ID card printers on the market today make use of the thermal dye transfer process to imprint logos and text onto plastic cards. The full color process is completed with a color ribbon and print head, which does the transferring. The ribbon of a thermal dye ID card printer contains four colors. This ribbon moves across the card while the print head applies heat. As heat passes from the print head through the ribbon, the image is burned into the plastic card; resulting in clear and colorful text and images.
